BUMMER.
No more Madison at the Olympics. Details below, via Hipster Nascar.

"Well, that's it, then. The International Olympic Committee hasconfirmed a complete reorganization of Olympic track cycling events, meaning they've ditched the Individual Pursuit, the Points race, and the Madison, and added women's keirin, team sprint, team pursuit, and omnium for both men and women. The move is, ostensibly, about gender parity, having the same number of events for both men and women track cyclists, but in reality that could have been achieved by adding more events for women without cutting some of the best and most interesting race formats, i.e., the Madison and the Points race. The Olympic track racing programme has now become, almost entirely, a sprint-fest, and is much more boring as a result."

WE WANT YOU!
Do you like bikes? Are you competitive, crafty, and a little bit angry? Do you simply like hanging out outside with booze as your main heater in the winter and booze as your main coolant in the summer? If you answer yes to one or more of these questions you may want to seriously consider playing the exciting new sport hardcourt BIKE POLO on a regular basis. All you need to start is a bicycle and a mostly functional human body! The other materials will at first be provided for you! How great is that? Ladies, our sport is 100% coed.

We meet at around 7PM at the tennis courts on 8th street 2and1/2 blocks south of coal every Thursday and Sunday. Albuquerque bike polo is constatnly trying to improve itself and is currently looking to expand it's schedule, look into other court options, find a well-lit place to play the occasional late night game, and most importantly, find new players. We also have an out-of-town tournament on the calendar. It will be February 20-21 in Tempe, AZ. So start playing weekly pick-up or you will suck and no one will want to be on your team. Remember, both sexes and all types of bikes are always welcome. Sorry that was long.
