Albuquerque Cyclists Beware - Trip Wires on Bike Paths
Booby traps on cycling paths and trails are nothing new—mountain bikers dealt with such cowardly attacks as trail riding was gaining in popularity, and occasionally mainstream bike paths come under attack from locals with some sort of grudge against cyclists. No joking matter, trip wires strung across trails can cause serious injury by either causing a crash and/or striking flesh and causing deep lacerations. As reported by KOB.com, Albuquerque cyclists are the latest to have to keep this threat in the back of their minds.

The most recent landed an Albuquerque man in the emergency room after he was knocked unconscious.

The traps target unsuspecting bicyclists cruising along the path. The next thing they know, they’re caught up in trip wire. Not a funny joke when you ask cyclists.

Jennifer Buntz with Bike ABQ has heard of at least three cases in the past month where someone set up trip wire along a bike path.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS PARADE!!!

Jeff posted this on cragslist:
"sunday, november 1st. 3pm. paint your face, bring your bike. join a bunch of fixie riding fools in the parade. i've secured a position in the dia de los muertos parade. contact me at heyfixie@yahoo.com if you want to ride. bicycle, mandatory... fixed gear, optional. go to muertosymarigolds.org for the guidelines. viva la muerto!"

Sounds awesome to me. Wish i could go. Alas work gets in the way of riding bikes.

Also, the race this weekend went really well. Thanks to everyone who showed up. All of you and more should show up for the next one.

GOOD GOD.

Did anyone see this insanity today? Be careful out there.

HEY HEY HEY! Updated flyer. I got some pretty cool prizes from the pretty cool sponsors you see there on that flyer. Also, I agree with Polka. 15 people at a race stinks. There are more people riding bikes around the hood that should show up for these things. So make no excuses and show up for the race. It'll be fun AND help feed some folks.

HAPPY FRIDAY.
ABQ's finest.

I'm throwing a race in November with tons of prizes and goodies, epic shit, etc. and I've set a tentative date for the weekend of the 14th. I want to figure out whether saturday or sunday will be best for everyone-there's gotta be a good turnout for this one, I'm sick of seeing 15 people at an alleycat. How about 30? Or maybe even the 60 folks that turned out for Crank2...Anyway, hit up the comments section, let me know what's best for everyone...

INTERBIKE 2009-A WEEK LATE, A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS SHORT.

Here's a few of the highlights from this year's bicycle clusterfuck in the desert, it was far too much to take in, as I'm still seeing stuff on other blogs we totally missed. Personally, I wasn't too stoked on much of what I saw, save for some of what you see above. Colnago's 55th anniversary Master road bike was the kills, as was Freeman Transport's Gravel Racer with the amazing copper patina fork. Cinelli has some interesting stuff lined up, look for it at Fixed&Free in the coming weeks, they recently secured dealer rights for Albuquerque. Difisso frames and Dodici wheels, classy handbuilt Italian goodness at the Selle San Marco booth. And of course, EuroAsia Imports comes through with a grip of eye candy; wish I had a few grand to drop on bike parts...
Also, Vegas is really only tolerable on drugs-Dr.Gonzo had the right idea.
