It's been down for the last few sessions but this thursday bike polo is more than on. Also one of our star players is back in town so the dynamic will probably be a bit different. If you haven't played yet thursday would be a good day to start because everyone will be out of practice. As always it will be at 7:30PM at the tennis courts on 8th south of coal near the zoo and ALL bike are welcome. I'm also super excited for this race this weekend. Who's commin with me?

PORT TO PORT RECAP
Fucking Epic. Too bad none of you lazy fools could be bothered to show up. Props to the eleven people who did come out to log some heavy miles. Congrats to our winner Graham, and Gan Well Paul and my little bro Michael for taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively. I got the illy DNF after my sidewall exploded at Paseo and San Pedro-oh well. Big thanks to Sam Smith for putting together the race, we'll definitely have to do that course again! For those of you who missed it, you can redeem yourselves this weekend with the Wordplay Scramble, a shorter, puzzle based alleycat that starts saturday afternoon at the Duck Pond. Info at Fixed&Free. Does anyone know who is throwing this shit? Its a big mystery...
Don't forget about the race tomorrow, details below.

RACE TIME!!!
What happened this summer? Not a single alleycat-kinda lame, but it was hotter than balls. Either way, temps are dipping into the 80's and fall race season is upon us. Hopefully everyone used that time for training... consider this the sequel to the Animale Hustle. 50 mile hustle to our local airports, this is a long race. Fear not, there are a plethora of leftover July 4th prizes to give away for all the brave souls who participate-goodies from the likes of Cog Magazine, Velocity and Volume. So throw on yer spandex and bring a lot of water. The usual beer&bbq post-festivities will go down at the shop afterwards. COME RACE!!!
STREET JUSTICE, SON!!
Saw this over on Cycling WMD. I know we have all fantasized about catching one of these scumbags in the act, but these guys actually did. Fucking rad. Full story below.
Here's the story. I was having brunch on first ave and first street with a a couple of friends including Alfred .It was a pretty sunny day and a good there was a good amount of pedestrian traffic .Nothing unusual. Alfred went out to make a call and spotted someone looking over his bike. Nothing unusual ,he got a hot ass cannondale with hot ass wheels.the guy was average looking, had a helmet and a bag.looked like your average joe casual biker.Suddenly this dude gets on his knees and pulls out a drill. At first Alfred thought he wanted to steal his wheels, until he saw the drill. Is this what it has come out to?!people stealing bike with drills?Anyways as he was getting ready to drill the ulock,Alfred comes in the restaurant and yells,!yooooo someones trying to steal my bike, lets go get him.and let me tell you this ass hole tried stealing the wrong bike.first it was a bike messengers bike and second it was Alfred's bike and the motherFkr got a temper sometimes.so we roll out to this dude and start pounding him.my first instinct was to get my U lock and bang on him,but my bike was already locked up so , we bumbrushed this dude and started pounding him.Everybody is watching and wondering why this dude is being plumeted ,but at that point we don't give a fuck.we had to make sure this asshole dosen't do it again.me personal i have had 2 bikes stolen,in like a month apart.fuck that shit.he did't even look like a bike thief!so while pounding him i reach out to put my phone in my pocket and realized i had a camera on my wait.i pulled it out and captured the second half of the beating!
There will be no mid week polo this Thursday. Instead a group of people on bikes will be taking the train to Santa Fe for the burning of Zozobra. It'll be a party. Meet at the downtown train station around 6PM.
This video is awesome. Love the pace, the music, and the gritty ass 8mm film. Perfect inspiration for this long weekend. Go ride.
