The Flying Scotsmen...

is at it again. Graeme Obree will be attempting to retake the hour record on his own custom built, steel bicycle.

As pictured above, the bicycle meets UCI regulations. This is necessary in the event that he bests Sosenka's time to be internationally recognized as the new record holder. The bicycle features a 67x13 gear ratio, a wide-nosed saddle at maximum setback (to meet regulation requiring the need for a saddle's nose to remain behind the bottom bracket), and a longer wheelbase and stem to allow Obree to achieve the highly tucked aero position as pictured above. He's expected to make his attempt later this year.

Jeff built his son this sick fixed BMX bike.  He's already doing one footed skids and working on his backwards circles.  

In other news, Revolutions went well, despite the shitty weather.  Thanks to the 20+ folks who came out for a nice chill ride and cheap bombers at Blackbird.  The next one is May 30.

Thanks to Alicia for throwing a really fun, well-organized race.  It was a perfect distance, the checkpoints had fun shit to do, and most everyone who came out walked away with some kind of prize.  Thanks to all the sponsors, and Nick from Apesh!t for bringing the sound-the afterparty lasted from 4 to midnight.  Congratulations to our winner Gan Well Paul, and thanks to everyone who came out.

BIKE WEEKEND PART DEUX

Group Ride this Saturday.  Meet at Fixed&Free at 8pm.  We will leave at 8:30 sharp.  The ride will be a short, laidback cruise through Downtown, Old Town, and Tingley Beach.  It ends at Blackbird Buvette where each rider will be given a special artist edition spoke card by Ernest from Cirq Gallery which will entitle them to $2.50 Baltika Extra 9 Bombers (which are delicious and 8%).  Bellydancing until 9:30, then DJ sets from Mittens and our very own Gan Well Paul till close.

BIKE WEEKEND

Tonight at the shop. Bring some bucks for beer if you can.

AssCrack GrassTrack is tomorrow night. 9pm at Johnson Field, UNM. Grass sprints and Capture the Flag. So awesome.

Saturday morning I'm hosting a group ride to Corrales. Its a fun, easy 30 miles (roundtrip) and its great to scare the roadies when you have a big posse. Meet at the Duck Pond at 9:30, we'll depart at 10.  We'll stop for lunch somewhere in Corrales and be back by 1.

Sunday afternoons we ride to the river to picnic and sun ourselves. Come join me and Nature Boy Ken (pictured below) for some beers, snacks, and rays. Its a cake 20 minute ride from the Student Ghetto, so bring a friend, your significant other, your dog, whoever to the Duck Pond at 4 pm. We'll leave by 5. Bring water, beer, bread, cheese, potato salad, fried chicken, etc., and maybe a spare tube-there is some killer singletrack fun in the woods.

Take a dip in the great river.

Or just hang out in the bushes, if you hate the sun like Sau.
