FIXED&FURIOUS-SPRING FEVER

Thanks to everyone who came out-small turnout, but that just meant more booze for all of us. Dakota won sprints again, Sam Smith came in a close second and won the skid comp. Everyone had a blast and got real drunk-see the last photo. Next one is the last friday in April-don't miss it!

Quarter mile sprints, distance skid comp, trick jam, and huge games of footdown with the finest in malt liquor for the winners. Sprints start shortly after 7, if you wanna race, get there before then to sign up. Bring some beers and some friends, its always better with an audience. Fucking awesome race. Thanks to Jeremy Brown for putting it all together, Ross and Juan for manning checkpoints, everyone who came out, and all of our sponsors-Silver Board Shop, Fixed&Free, Cranks505, Tokyo Hardcore, Cycle Jerks, Track Shack, House of Mendez, and Royals Bicycle Club. Big ups to Broox, Sam, Tyler and Tyler for driving down from Denver to partake in the madness and big thanks for the goodies from Battlesteed and Cycle Jerks. I hope everyone had a blast, congrats to Dave Fischman for taking first overall and winning the super fly bag donated by Gabe from House of Mendez. Be sure and check out Cycle Jerks, X Rocks the Spot and the Track Shack if you're heading to Denver.
Thanks everyone, looks like a great start for another awesome race season.
Speaking of which, Fixed&Furious returns next Friday, March 27. More info on the way.

SATURDAY-11 AM FIXED&FREE-DONT MISS IT!
Riding the Rails is tomorrow. Unless you're working or going out of town for spring break, you have no excuse to miss this one.
Just to go over the details one more time, race starts in ABQ with checkpoints here. You then catch the 2:46 train from the downtown ABQ station to Santa Fe. More checkpoints there, then you MUST catch the 4:30 train back to ABQ, where the race will finish. This is going to be a crazy, epic, day-long adventure. Bring a bag, water, tubes, tools, etc., snacks, and $6 for the train fare. Oh, and you might wanna check a road map of downtown Santa Fe if you're unfamiliar with the area...
Hope to see everyone there!

Sorry Mr. Fishman, but you've been 1(mm)-upped.

Velocity is now working on a 43mm, triple wall deep section rim. Initial plans call for 32, 36 and possibly a 48 hole drilling. These, unlike the H+ rims are designed more for tricking it up. Now we can expect manufacturers such as Profile to start pushing hubs drilled for 48. Maybe a compromise between hub manufacturers and framebuilders and we'll see 14mm rear axles? Who's to say?!
More info at Velocity's blog.

There is a great little essay on Hipster Nascar that rails on elitism and its myriad of guises and avenues. Check it out here. Safe to say we've all had this same debate (sorry again for that whole debacle). It's a good reminder of why we go out and ride our bicycles, regardless of what sad, tired old sense of self-consciousness flits around like a dying moth in the back of our minds.

"Up here," Sac says,

"There's only one way to go."

"Down."

Anyone care to translate?
